Medic, also known as a paramedic, played a crucial role in emergency care. Paramedics often work closely with the police and fire departments in emergency session. Different states have different needs and training programs, but all states require certification. The courses vary in length, but the hard training includes instruction on how to react to hemorrhage, myocardial infarction, stroke, fractures and other problems are emergency workers. Students are also taught the proper use of medical emergency teams. Course work includes initial training and exposure to emergency rooms and outpatient procedures.

After completing an EMT program, to be approved by a state accrediting agency should be, a person must meet state certification, including the administration of a written test and practical.
